Lover, please has waited a very, very long time to be released.

It’s the second video from the Let It Go album.

Rather than make it a performance video, I decided to make it a lyric video, backed by manipulated public domain footage. It doesn’t need my face. 🙂

It’s slow and sultry, which to me totally fits with the song.

Enjoy.

Love,

M

An important p.s. – I wanted to make this multi-racial.  (And multi-gender, for that matter)  But there was nothing in the old public domain movies that WAS multi-racial.  And being that we’re in social distancing for the time being, there was no way for me to shoot new, intimate scenes between varied partners.  So it lives as it is.

I always loved “making of” featurettes… and now I get to share one!

I first heard Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall – a record by Ella Fitzgerald and the Ink Spots – while playing a video game called Fallout 3.  In F3, you are wandering the ruins of post-apocalyptic Washington DC and its’ suburbs.  But while you’re doing that, you can listen to the radio – to a guerilla radio station called Galaxy News Radio, which plays all this GREAT old music – which I’ve always had an affinity for. (You can listen to all the songs from the station here on youtube.)

So when it came time to make a video for it, I wanted to do something that was, at least in part, an homage to the game.  Hence the dilapidated room.

But how to go about that?  Well… this video will show you how I did it. (Well, at least how I made the room.)  Between that and the editing of the actual video, it was a tremendous amount of work.  But I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out.

Enjoy.

In the beginning of 2019, Lara Hope agreed to do a duet with me – a cover of an old Ella Fitzgerald/Ink Spots tune.  Rather than doing a note-for-note cover (what’s the point?), I decided to swap genders on the track – she was a trooper and took it on. Later on, Neil Alexander came to my place and gave me WAY better piano for it than my ham-handed parts.

So when it came time to make a video for it, I asked – and they both stepped up – along with Sam Newsome and Don Valentine, who did mime horns.

It was a LOT of work… but plenty of fun, and I’m glad to say that it was all done with social distancing.

With cameos by Lara Hope, Neil Alexander and Erik Lawrence, Let It Go is available now at Bandcamp, and will be available on all major platforms over the next week.

Enjoy.

In light of the difficult times artists are facing right now, the very kind folks at Bandcamp are suspending all their fees for sales – for 24 hours – from midnight to midnight (Pacific) today.

I have three albums up there, plus an album of remasters/extra cuts… PLUS I’ve set up a full discography price of 16 bucks for the lot! You can find it all here:

Thanks, and much love to all.
