I’m FREE.

This idea has been percolating in me for some time, and after very careful consideration, I’ve decided to go ahead with it.

I’m giving my music away.

Moving forward, beginning on 9/22/2021, I will offer my music to anyone, for no charge. You will have the option to buy it if you want, but money is never why I made music to begin with, and I’d much rather put it in your hands than spend time trying to generate sales… so you can pay what you want for any of it moving forward.

I keep the lights on here doing webwork and little bits of media for folks.  I have always, always spent more money to make music than I take in – it’s a labor of love – I can spend weeks or months or even years on a single track… and every bit of time I spend trying to put it into sales channels and the like, just takes time away from me actually making the music.

I had to think hard about what my goal is – and in truth, it’s to make music that I love and then put it into your hands – and ears.

And yes, I know… there are those who will say that I’m not honoring myself or my art by not insisting on being compensated for it.  I am fully aware of that idea, and have thought it through a great deal… but I disagree.  In my bio, I’m quoted as saying “I just want people to feel something when they hear my music… to get as much joy and emotion from it as I felt when I was making it.”

THAT is what matters to me – and in itself, it’s the best kind of income there is.

So beginning 9/22, you will be able to get any of my work on Bandcamp for free. (It’ll still be up for sale and streaming in the usual outlets.)  But all you’ll have to provide is your email address. You will have the option of paying something for it if you want, which IS always appreciated… but what I want is you listening and enjoying.

I make music for love, not for money.
